This is a little gem in Newcastle. I actually came across this park years ago when I heard that there was an awesome train that my toddlers could play on and a beach only 15 minutes away from our house. Little did I know what a great discovery it would be for fall!
This location will always have a place in my heart because at one time there also was an old train track running through it- I packed my family in the car when the leaves began to drop to the ground and took my FAVORITE fall pictures to date. Unfortunately a bike path took the place of my beloved rustic tracks, but I still adore this water front location.
This park can show off color even before fall! Late Summer when the dahlias are still blooming, this park gives golden light in the afternoon shining through yellow and light green foliage.
In the fall this park features what I believe is ginkgo trees that turn a warm yellow. They begin to fall early, about second week of October so by 3rd and 4th week they are all on the ground ready to play with! With these two families you can tell the difference in color within a week (earlier the leaves are more in the trees and later they are on the ground turning orange).
Depending on your color scheme for fall, blues look great with golden yellow but also I loved the gold and brown plaids with this location.
